We all know that teenagers are notorious for staying up late and being incredibly hard to get up in the morning. My teens, all three of them have defiantly been no exception to that. I am sure you believe like I did, that they were just being lazy or contrary to the rules. But guess what? That is most likely not true as there seems to be a physical cause for it. When your child moves into the adolescent period of life, his circadian (biological clock) rhythm is reset. It now tells them it is time to go to bed at 11pm not 8pm. This change is believed to have something to do with brain growth and a hormone called melatonin. This hormone is produced later at night in teens and they need it to fall asleep.
