In most cases, there is not a reason that has been discovered for the restless leg syndrome. It has been found, though, that it can run in families. Many pregnant women also develop restless leg syndrome. Luckily, in case you develop the problem during pregnancy, it's most likely that it'll go away again once the baby is born. It has also been shown that certain deficiencies can also trigger restless leg syndrome, for example an iron deficiency. Certain diseases and disorders might also be the cause behind the syndrome. For example, diabetes, Parkinsons disease, and rheumatoid arthritis can all lead to restless leg syndrome, though in most instances that have been diagnosed, this isn't the case.
